ARTIST STATEMENT
“Art is a reflection of God’s creativity, an evidence that we are made in the image of God.” – Francis Schaeffer –
I was born in Guatemala City, but spent my childhood in a small, dreamy town in Tuscany, Italy. My happiest memories revolved around outdoor spaces, cultivated fields, parks, and the smell of herbs and forests. This positive connection with the natural world together with my passion for art created a safe escape. Today, my Italian-Latin American heritage continues to be reflected in my landscape paintings through their vibrant, saturated colors and textural surfaces where I strive to share with viewers my passion and awe of nature and its resiliency, diversity and reflection of God’s creativity. I more recently embraced Plein Air oil and watercolor painting as a means to capture in a few, decisive strokes the essence of a moment or place as I continue to live and travel around the world. As a Christian I view myself simply as a recreator of the world around me, with God as the ultimate creator of it all. I’m inspired by His word as well the beautiful experiences I have had during my travels, walking through the Brazilian Rain Forest, the Guatemalan Mayan temples, soaking in the Caribbean and Floridian seascapes, standing at the top of the Alpine Mountains, and so much more.
